Northern Scratch Fives - Altricnham
Report By Tournament Manager (Ian Kennedy)
Firstly, Let me start by congratulating Ryan Bowes ( Wilsons Warriors ) on Bowling the 2nd 300 game of this season, It must be a great feeling knowing you can string the strikes together. He Joins the 300 club along with Jamie Dennison who scored the first of this season.
As you will see further down in the newsletter the centre scoring was good on the day so a big thanks to all the staff who made it an enjoyable day. Unfortunate that we had a major lane breakdown but think the centre did us proud by leaving a lane division for us from open play. They have invited us back next season which was nice to hear.
New leaders at the top of the table are Scout 10 scoring 94pts on the day for a total of 378pts, Yorkshire are now in 2nd place with a total of 344pts, with Go Bowling Shipley in 3rd with a total of 325pts.
High bowler of the day was Jamie Denison with 215 average over 6 games, Mike Cummings averaged 218 only over 5 games. Wilsons Warriors set a new seasons best team game scoring 1180, which may take some beating.
Declan Simons (who finished the day with a 280 game) still holds the high seasons average with 212.76 over 17 games
As you are all aware we adhere to many of the BTBA rules but there may be some bowling balls being used that still have 4 holes drilled, one possibly being the old balance hole. We would ask you to not use this equipment and follow the current ruling given by the BTBA.
It is nice to see every team now having a full set of team bowling shirts but it would be even better if they were always on display whilst bowling and it does include the practice lanes.
The Next venue for us is at Chesterfield Bowl on the 17th March 2024 and should be open from 9:00 for teas, coffees and breakfast.
